Thai Beef + Basil Stir Fry

I love how quick this is, and how delicious it is. The basil folded in at the last minute gives it such a delish, enticing aroma. Serve over rice, or cram it into a soft white bun for the best sloppy joe ever.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Small Yellow Onions, peeled + thinly sliced
  • 7 cloves Garlic, peeled + sliced
  • 3 Red or Green Bird's Eye Chilies, thinly sliced
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 4 tbsp Fish Sauce
  • 6 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tsp Oyster Sauce
  • 1/3 c Low Sodium Chicken Broth
  • 1 1/2 c Thai Basil Leaves

Instructions

  • In a wok over medium high heat, add the oil, onions + garlic, + fry for 3 minutes, or until tender + just starting to colour. Add the chilies + cook for another minute. Crank up the heat to high, + add the ground beef, breaking it up into small bits and allowing it to crisp up.
  • Add the fish sauce, soy sauce, + oyster sauce. Stir-fry for another minute and deglaze the pan with the broth. Because your pan is over high heat, the liquid should cook off very quickly. Add the basil, + stir-fry until wilted. Serve over rice, or cram it into a soft white bun for the best sloppy joe ever…
